1st International Expert Conference "Occupational Transitions:
Unemployment, Underemployment and Health"
Adelaide, Dec 10-12, 2001
The Conference aimed at bringing together experts from different countries and
regions of the world, summing up the present and the future of unemployment
research. The link between unemployment and health has been shown in various
studies and can be seen as well established. Still, more detailed knowledge on
subgroups is needed, e.g. men/women. For the future, we have to go beyond
descriptions and call for action, e.g. concerning the humanizing the downsizing
process and finding a new balance between individual and social responsibility
for occupational transitions.
